CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is a premium action game for PC from developer KeelWorks. It's a top-down shoot 'em up title set in the distant future wherein the world is under threat of an alien invasion. Players are part of Earth's last line of defense against the unrelenting wave of the onslaught.

Much like Sky Force Reloaded or Returnal, CYGNI: All Guns Blazing employs familiar sci-fi tropes and pairs them with fast-paced nonstop action. What makes it stand out more is its use of beautiful graphics and smooth animations which is by far the best visual for games of its kind.

Slick bullet hell

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing takes place on the titular planet of Cygni, wherein the last remains of Earth's civilization are encamped after being devastated by a biomechanical alien race. You are a pilot for the last carrier fleet and the last line of defense against the extraterrestrial menace. Against overwhelming odds, you must take on waves of enemies and manage to defeat everything that comes your way.

Controls in the game are of the twin-stick shooter variety, and you will be piloting an advanced aircraft with a unique ability to reroute power to weapons or shield on-the-fly. You'll face air-to-air and ground-to-air enemy types, so determine whether you need firepower or defense at will. Collect energy from defeated ships to power up special attacks like nukes or vortex bombs.

Once you've blasted yourself past the cannon fodder, engage in one-on-one boss battles against over-the-top monsters in boss battles. You can upgrade your ship too by learning new tech. Everything is presented with a cinematic flair that's more akin to a film. The game is a vertical scrolling shooter hybrid that has an immersive sound design with full orchestral score.

A promising shmup

All in all, if you're a fan of the shoot 'em up genre, then CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is worth keeping an eye out for. It features some incredible visuals paired with solid, engaging gameplay, a unique energy mechanic, and very immersive sound. Needless to say, this survival, action, and shooter game — all in one — is something that you should definitely put on your radar.
